Class Two - Mrs Gray

Year One visited Space to LearnSpace To Learn is a place to challenge conventional teaching methods by providing an area where new technologies and teaching styles are used. We looked at pictures of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon and we looked at a booked called Aliens love Underpants. We had an amazing time at Space to Learn.

Information and Class Routines for Parents

All pupils should bring their reading book and reading record to school every day. Pupils should practise their reading every night for at least 10 minutes supported by an adult. We would really appreciate parents/carers signing their child’s reading record and we encourage parents to make comments. Mrs Graves and I will check that all pupils are reading at home. Children will have the opportunity to swap their books regularly.

Weekly spellings are based on spelling rules and statutory words from the New Curriculum. Spellings to learn and practise will be given out every Friday and pupils will be tested the following week. We have introduced across school a ‘Word of the Day’ activity. We ask parents to question and discuss this with their child/children. Find out its definition and the context it would be used in.

Number formation, counting and number bonds should be practised regularly. It is important that pupils can form numbers correctly and be fluent in their number bonds to enable them to efficiently carry out many other mathematical strategies. Please encourage your child/children to practise these every week and support them in the process.

Class Two will have PE on a Tuesday. Please make sure your child has a full PE kit in school.

(Black shorts, white shirt and plimsolls. Please ensure that earrings are taken out before they come to school and long hair is tied back).

Homework will be handed out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Thursday.

A healthy snack is available at playtime for all pupils, free of charge.
