Reception 1 - Mrs Scott
Information and Class Routines for Parents
All pupils should bring their shared reading book to school every day. Please would you share these books with your child, asking appropriate questions about the text and explaining any unfamiliar vocabulary.
We have introduced across school a ‘Word of the Day’ challenge. The children will be introduced to a new word and its meaning on a daily basis. Please talk to your child about the word of the day.
Please encourage your child to recognise numbers and shapes within the environment. The children will be working on recognising and ordering numbers to 20 and we would appreciate your ongoing support.
Homework for reception will be handed out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Tuesday.
The children access the Foundation Stage outdoor area on a daily basis and it is important for them to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. No jewellery or earrings for health and safety reasons.
Please could all children practise dressing and undressing themselves in preparation for PE lessons to start from January 2017.
Please ensure that all clothing is clearly labelled.
The children love making models and we would appreciate any cardboard boxes and plastic bottles.
The children in Reception have access to the water fountain and as such do not require a water bottle.
Reception children were really interested in rocks and fossils and wanted to know what had happened to the dinosaurs? They made up their own theories and then decided to ask some scientists at the Natural History Museum. We posted a letter and received a reply.
