British Values

Promoting fundamental British Values is an integral part of St. Helen's Primary School and our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural ( SMSC ) Education.

St. Helen's Primary School is a  fully inclusive Primary School and the well-being of our pupils is paramount to all and everything we do. We promote British values throughout  and values are embedded within our PSHCE curriculum.

Our aim is:

  • to enable pupils to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence;
  • to enable pupils to distinguish between right and wrong and respect the civil and criminal law of England;
  • to encourage pupils to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative, and understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality of the school and to the wider society.

We want our pupils to be tolerant and promote harmony between different cultural traditions by enabling pupils to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures; encourage respect for other people and encourage respect for democracy.
